Physiotherapy

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy uses a variety of evidence-based techniques to treat an animal holistically, meaning the entire body, to achieve desired goals. During an appointment, a selection of manual techniques, remedial exercises and electrotherapies are used to reduce pain and tissue tension, and improve muscle mass, strength, and joint range of motion, as well as working towards the chosen improvement goals. Each patient is treated as an individual with treatment tailored to suite their needs and a home remedial exercise plan to work alongside physiotherapy appointments.

Physiotherapy works very well alongside hydrotherapy, helping to optimise results. The multidisciplinary team here at Woozelbears Witney ensures frequent communication between both the physiotherapy and hydrotherapy staff, alongside regular updates to your vets, and yourself take place to help achieve the best care and results for your dog.

Physiotherapy can benefit many conditions, including:

  • After surgery
  • Arthritis
  • Hip and Elbow dysplasia
  • CDRM
  • Neurological conditions (IVDD/FCE)
  • Paralysis
  • Recovering from injuries- including fracture, soft tissue, and neurological damage
  • Cruciate ligament injuries and post-operative recovery
  • Elderly dogs
  • Athletic dogs
